Today, I want to share a book that kept me entertained throughout and never feeling bored: The Locked Door by Freida McFadden. As someone who loves thrillers that aren’t extremely unrealistic, this book did not disappoint.
Summary:
The Locked Door follows the story line of a young woman who has created a bright and successful career for herself and lives a primarily solitary and lonesome life outside of work. She has run away from her past and a childhood that haunts her due to her serial killer father. McFadden’s writing keeps you guessing while still allowing you to somewhat bond and have an understanding with the main character.
What I Loved:
Characters: The main character felt real and raw.
Pacing: Fast enough to keep me interested but still very detailed and thoughtful.
Overall: The way that Freida writes is just so good. She makes you feel like you are there. Like you jumped into the book and are playing as the main character. This is a big characteristic I look for when I am reading a book and what truly allows me to immerse myself into the story. I love how most of the time when there is some suspect involved in these books, I will try to make an educated guess about who I think it is, and I always end up surprised.

- Readers wanting real depth and additional touches to the book aside from it just being a thriller
- Anyone looking for an engaging page turner without too much darkness
Conclusion:
Overall, this book is a must read. It is a nice and exhilarating book to read while you are drinking your coffee or tea in the morning, or even with a glass of wine at night while taking a bubble bath. The Locked Door is such a nice suspenseful book that has a lot of depth and layers to it, which helps to keep you on your toes and constantly wondering “who did it?”. I would give it 5/5 stars because I could not put it down. Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors and never seems to disappoint me with her work.
